Character Consideration

Who is responsible for Bob Ewell's death? (We know who killed him, but who is actually responsible in a broader sense, if anyone.)

  1. I think that Atticus is responsible for his death because he contradicted Bob in the court room. Atticus also made him out to be a liar infront of all the people.

  4. I think that Boo Radley was the one who actually killed him. But Atticus might have ticked him off a lot earlier in the book, and then wasn't too worried about it. So in a way, Attics kind of provoked him.

  5. We all know that Mr. Arthur killed Bob to protect the kids. But if you really think about it i would say that Bob- Killed himself. He didn't treat his daughter right and she felt that she need it from Tom. Bob when to court accusing Tom of Raping Mayella. Bob thought that Atticus made him look like a fool in court, but if Bob hadden lied, he never would have gotten in the situation. Bob is the one that made the chose to attack Scout and Jem. So he got himself killed.

  6. Bob is responsible for his own death because he did wrong in the first place and caused the death of an innocent man.

  7. I think that Boo was the one who killed him. I think that Atticus was the one who made him attack his kids because he defended Tom.

  8. Well of course we all know that Boo Radley killed Bob to save the kids when he like jumped them at night. But if you look at it in a broader sense I would have to say that Bob killed himself because it's his fault that he didn't treat his daughter right. When Atticus showed him up in court and basically made him out to be a liar it didnt help things much. So overall Bob was just a mad, mean, person and in the end he's the jerk face that jumped the kids so it's his fault that he got killed.

  9. I think that Bob Ewell is responsible for his own death. He pretty much brought it upon himself by putting a black man on the spot and accusing him of something that he didn't do. Bob couldn't handle a lot of what Atticus did to him during the case, so he got off by being a jerk to others. He got what he deserved, otherwise he would have killed Atticus's children to get back at Atticus.

  11. I think Bob is responsible for his own death because he is the one who wanted to take the case to court. If he didnt want it to go to court then this wouldnt happen. Atticus wouldnt have made a fool of Bob and he wouldnt have wanted to go after the kids for revenge. He should have not gotten mad at Tom for something his daughter was doing. So, I believe Bob is responsible for his own death.

  12. Boo Radley is the obvious reason for Bob Ewell's death. But I think that Bob really killed himself here. If he wouldn't have accused Tom, or even did the things he did to Mayella, there wouldn't be anything for him to be upset about. But when he was mad at Atticus, and trying to get the kids, he got himself into that. So I think it was his fault that he died.

  19. He is responsible for his own death. Maybe if he wouldn't have lied and been a jerk it wouldn't have happened. That's what he gets for doing that. Of course it's not a good thing but, in all reality he really did have it comeing for him!

  20. He is responsible for his own death. He lied about stuff that he shouldn't have lied about him. If he hadn't lied about him maybe he wouldn't have died

  22. I think it was Bob's fault, cause if he didnt attack the kids then maybe he would be alive and taking care of his own instead of someone else. boo was helping the kids and the town when he killed bob ewell.
